Join Our Full-Time Beginners to Advanced Pottery Course
Residential Pottery Program
This is a comprehensive full-time course that takes you through the Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced levels and is aimed at making proficient potters out of the uninitiated.
Shared accommodation is available for participants who are from out of town at an extra cost. A fully equipped kitchen is included; participants can cook food of their choice.
Duration: The course runs 5 hours a day, 6 days a week for 3 months. Saturdays are for hand-building, Sundays are holidays and Mondays are dedicated to other activities that range from practice to recycling and firing.

- Clay preparation
- Clay bodies: Terracotta, Porcelain and Stoneware
Wheel-Work:
- Centering of clay
- Making of a cylinder
- Making bowls, mugs
- Handles & lugs
- Lidded jars & casseroles
- Teapots and decanters
- Pitchers
- Plates
- Section-throwing
- Throwing off the hump
- Trimming
Hand-building techniques:
- Pinch & coil
- Slab and tile creation
- Surface decoration & textures
- Working with different clay bodies
- Sgraffito
- Sodium Silicate
Other Pottery Techniques:
- Raku Pottery
- Glaze application
- Basics of glaze creation & testing
- Electric kiln firing
- Gas kiln firing
- Raku kiln firing
- Recycling of clay
